Kuma Pashmina

The name Kuma traces back to a region in Japan known for its forested landscapes and clear rivers. In Japanese, Kuma also means "bear". This fits perfectly with these scarves, which feel as soft and warm as dense fur.

All Kuma scarves are crafted by hand from 100% pure cashmere in Nepal using a special knitting technique. This creates a scarf with two sides. One features a fluffy loop structure with a fur-like feel. The other is smooth knitted and appears calm and elegant. Depending on how you drape or tie the scarf, one side or the other comes into view.

The knitting technique results in naturally slightly irregular stitch formation. Individual loops may vary slightly in size. This is not a manufacturing defect, but rather a hallmark of authentic handcrafted work.

The Kuma family comes in two variants:

  • Kuma Aki (Japanese "autumn"): lightweight, generously sized at 100 × 200 cm and versatile to wear as a stole, wrap, or scarf.
  • Kuma Fuyu (Japanese "winter"): knitted from significantly thicker yarn with more volume. The classic scarf measuring 70 × 200 cm for the cold season.
